Can CBD help with insomnia?

Quality of your sleep affects your life more than you might think. Your mood, mental well-being, concentration, perception, physical fitness and even desire for sex are linked to how well you sleep. Good quality sleep has been proven to increase the quality of life, but insomnia is unfortunately very common nowadays and every third person in the population suffers from some kind of sleep disorder.

Why is good quality sleep important?

Healthy and full-fledged sleep is important not only for our health and well-being, but also for our brain, which needs enough deep sleep to function properly. Good quality sleep also has positive effects on our immune system. Lack of sleep on the other hand can cause some mental and health problems (for example diabetes, obesity, a weakened immune system, depression, anxiety, etc.). If you do not sleep well, it is time to do something about it!

Influence of CBD on sleep and insomnia

CBD is used to treat insomnia mainly for its ability to calm the nervous system. 

Research of the effects of cannabis on insomnia suggests that cannabidiol (CBD) may have therapeutic potential for the treatment of insomnia. New studies investigating cannabinoids and sleep apnea suggest that synthetic cannabinoids such as nabilone and dronabinol may have short-term benefits for sleep apnea. A great advantage is that natural cannabis supplements such as the aforementioned CBD can help you get rid of chemical drugs. Sleeping medication can have a number of side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness and increased daytime sleepiness. Taking CBD oil before going to bed can help you achieve a peaceful and healthy sleep without the use of chemical drugs.

CBD may help you sleep

It is important to realize in advance that CBD is not a magical pill that, when swallowed, will solve your sleep problems. For any significant results CBD should be used regularly. The recommended dosage and duration of use will vary from person to person depending on the type of sleep disorder. 

In terms of dosing, it is recommended to start with a dosage of ~ 10 mg CBD per day. If relaxation does not occur after a long time and sleep quality does not improve, it is recommended to increase the dose by 5 mg until the desired effects are achieved. Don't worry, cannabidiol cannot be overdosed and there are no serious side effects. Nevertheless, it is better to start with a lower dose and gradually increase it. 

  • Do you suffer from excessive daily fatigue? You should use CBD in the morning after waking up.

  • Do you suffer from insomnia? You should take CBD a few hours before going to bed (the effect of CBD arrives in about 90 minutes after ingestion).
